Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 12th May, 2015: Just after the trauma of the earlier earthquake was vanishing gradually, another quake stuck Siliguri leaving the residents mesmerized. People rushed out of their homes, offices and schools. The quake occurred at around 12:35 pm today with its epicenter 83 kms east of Katmandu towards Mt Everest. The depth of the quake is around 17 kms. One of the most visual incident occurred just after that in Siliguri. It was the 1st Graduation examination going when the quake stuck.
Students terrified at the incident rushed out of the examination Hall of Siliguri College. The management could not find ways to send the students back to their examination hall. So they decided to make the student sit at the College grounds for the rest of the day and complete their examination. From distance it took the shape of mini Shantiniketan, where similar practice is seen (obviously the reasons are different). Mrs. Basab Das a guardian was waiting for her wart to complete her exam outside the college premises. “It was good for the Siliguri College management that they had taken such a prompt action by relieving the fears from the minds of the students. Since, the temperature was low, it was not a problem. However, I am worried for the next examinations left”.
